Who Am I?
"See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us… that we should be called children of God."
- 1 John 3:1a

- Who am I? People all over the world ask that question of themselves.
If I logon to facebook… I find out what my relationship status is, when I was born, what groups I belong to, what groups my friends think I should belong to, what my friends think about me, who my friends think I should know, and facebook begins to paint a picture of who I am. But is that who I am?
When I went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to apply for my permanent residence in Croatia, I was reminded that I’m a foreigner. I stood in the line for foreigners. I handed over my foreign passport and documents. They even pulled out my HUGE file to remind me I have been a foreigner here for 15 years. But is that who I am?
Whether we like it or not, people like to label other people and they tell us what we should believe about ourselves.
But is that who we are?
No! If you want to really find out who you are then you need to find out from the One who created you. In His words you’ll find a message of Hope … not just for today, but for every single day that God gives you breath.
Let me share with you one of the messages God wants you to hear about who you are. Here it goes, if you’ve believed in Jesus as your Savior, you can be confident that you are a child of God (1 John 3:1). Don’t take my word for it. Take God’s word for it. You have a LOVING Heavenly Father who has blessed you through Jesus and has made you His child.
- God loves you so much. He knows you inside and out. He knows what you believe about yourself. He knows the messages you wrestle with. The messages that beat some of you up because you think…
- • I’m not beautiful enough… or handsome enough…
- • I’m not smart enough…
- • I’ll never amount to anything...
- • Nobody wants me…
- • Those messages that leave you feeling inadequate and hopeless.
- • Messages that when you listen to them communicate to your heart…Nobody loves me… not even God.
Let me remind you … that’s not your God!It’s easy to forget this so let me just say it again, “God loves you and you are one of God’s kids… if you’ve believed in Jesus as your Savior.”
What an amazing privilege to be a child of the God who created the Universe. What freedom and hope it instills into our hearts as we walk through life in this world. I pray this encourages your steps as you walk with Jesus.
